The poetry games book

Poetry brings smiles, reflection and comfort to all readers. Poetry gives all students an outlet for sharing their thoughts, ideas, and feelings.

The poetry books selected for this project give my students the opportunity to see themselves in our fourth-grade curriculum as well as windows into new perspectives and identities. Additionally, poetry inspires students to become poets themselves. We will use the books from this project as mentor text to write our own poems. Poems are playful and powerful giving young writers the opportunity to explore form, punctuation and voice in their writing.

Poetry encourages students to play with language and words. The game, Bananagrams gives students the opportunity to physically manipulate letter tiles to play with words and collaborate with peers. Playing Bananagrams and reading poetry supports the unique learning styles in my classroom and strengthens spelling skills and reading fluency. When kids realize songs and rap are a form of poetry it nudges even the most reluctant reader to open a poetry anthology. This project will reach 35 students. You donate directly to the teacher or project you care about and see where every dollar you give goes. It is easier to also purchase more than one book for the game to go faster compared to everyone sharing just one book. You would roll the dice, then move to the property that you count to, then read the poem of that property you landed on, and then discuss how you feel the poem fits you previously or currently.

Or you may want to discuss your likes about the poem. And then the next person will roll the dice and go along the board and etc. I also have three Associate Degrees. I have previously served in the Armed Forces twice. First time I served in Active Duty, which is considered full time for 3 years, 8 months, and 6 days. It lets you read poetry, read information about that poetry, list your favorites, and pair your own photos with poems.

There are so many lovely, fun, and engaging poems and poets. Find some poetry that inspires you , and run with it! Listen in the car, grab some headphones at home, or bring them along for a poetry walk! You can find cds for the car at your library or check out the variety of poetry available on audible. Grow like the flower. Soar like the bird. Gently flutter from place to place like the butterfly.

Take on the characteristics of the people, animals, or objects in your poems and perform. Stomp your feet to the rhythm, move like a tree in the wind, or create an interpretive dance. Dance and poetry are both arts. Can you communicate the meaning, the feeling of the poetry with your body? Some poetry has its own rhythm. Make up a tune to go along with the words. How will your song sound?

Sad and low? How can you express the meaning of the poem through more than simply the words. Decide on a theme, author, or style of poetry and create a book of selected works. These can be illustrated pages, typed or hand-written. Find poetry at the library, online, or from your favorite books.
